Patrick Hyland, Ph.D., is a Consulting Services Lead at Mercer | Sirota. He has over 15 years of experience in organizational research and consulting. He has worked with a wide range of clients including FedEx Ground, Tiffany & Co., Thomson Reuters, Vistaprint, Dell, and the U.S. Patent & Trade Office. He is currently conducting research on a variety of workforce topics, including employee lifecycle research, onboarding practices, senior leadership team effectiveness, mindfulness at work, and survey actioning best practices. He recently published an article on Mindfulness at Work in Industrial Organizational Psychology and a book chapter on survey actioning in the Handbook of Survey Methodology for the Social Sciences.
Dr. Hyland is a lead researcher at The Engagement Institute, a community of learning that includes over 100 senior human resources and human capital professionals. Established by Deloitte, The Conference Board, and Sirota, The Engagement Institute is focused on advancing the science and practice of employee engagement in today’s organizations. Dr. Hyland is also a trained coach who specializes in helping leaders turn their 360 and survey data into action. Dr. Hyland received his Ph.D. in Social-Organizational Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University, where he also served as an Adjunct Professor for ten years. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
